Browsers without Flash - How?

Hello,

I use the Share functionality to share individual tracks. However, a few people browse using IPads and don't have Flash - which apparently prevents them from playing using the browser interface. I think I read that MadSonic uses JWPlayer. Doesn't JWPlayer have an HTML5 option if Flash isn't installed?

Have others encountered this issue of being unable to play "share" links on an IPad without Flash? Any workarounds?

Thanks,
MediocreFred.

Don't know if this will help, but have you tried the mini player that is bundled with Subsonic and Madsonic now? It can be accessed by going to http://yoururl.com/mini/. The mini player is HTML5 is far as I know and may work with shared links, but not 100% sure. I'd assume it's worth a shot.

The issue is that the shared link is of the form: http://<mysubsonicurl>/share/xxxxx

I usually email this to a few friends or post to a forum. Anybody that clicks on this gets to play just that track using MadSonic's default JWPlayer. I don't want to allow Guest access to my entire library. I also don't want to create an account for everybody that wants to listen to one track. Sharing works great - except for peeps without a Flash-enabled browser.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

How about having them download Chrome and opening the link with that?

Yea but on a mobile device there is no flash regardless of browser used so it won't work without jumping through a lot of hoops on Android and I'm sure next to impossible on iOS so yea I've been unsuccessful in getting jwplayer to default to html5 there are some guides around here but they may be outdated a simple setting or toggle or install option really anything at all would be great but I'm sure it's been brought up many times over the years.

Yeah, +1 - I would like to be able to share to mobile devices. Is there an HTML5 player for the share function?

I'm also interested in a solution as I'm having this issue too. I'm new to subsonic and see that this thread is three years old !

When sharing (using iPhone/iPad) my links show as

http :// username.subsonic.org/share/xxxxx

Without flash this obviously doesn't work....

Any ideas out there?
