Just to snag credit (and critique) on my variant of the icon, the middle icon was created by myself, (in the spirit of the original new icon)

I'm completely open to changes so here's the PSD file if anyone wants to tinker around and improve on it, or let me know any critiques.

To explain a bit my mess of a photoshop file... the group "Logo Base Combined" contains another group, "Main Logo" which is the main stuff of the logo, on top of that in the Base combined group I have some color correction. The top group, "Logo Overlay Combined" is a direct copy of the Base combined group, but the whole group is set to overlay and has some slightly different color correction. Basically, if you change anything in the Base Main logo group, copy it into the Main Logo Duplicate group as well. Pretty wonky way of working, I know, sorry about that.

Also to chime in on my vote, I like my icon :X and I'm also tied with dsub11 by williamkray. You did a nice job simplifying this one and making the focus clear. On the previous one my eye was always drawn to the sky and top of the waves rather than the note, which I felt should have been the main focus. This new one fixes that completely. Also the choice of blues matches dsub closer than the previous one with the cyan sky and such.

So I dont know if we're doing votes or what but I vote 50/50 for "waco-yellow" (henceforth dubbed) and dsub11.png

EDIT: also I just slightly tweaked the hue of my blues to match the app, here's a new screenshot

I like the way the base of the note appears to glow, owing to the blue gradient, and also how the waves too appear to be 3 dimensional...all that's left to fulfill my vision is to turn the base of the note into the sub! Still, it's a small icon, and that would likely be overkill. I also like how the blues are independent of the holo theme, are bright but not IOS7 Nicki Minaj over-the-top...great job!

alright, i really like WACOMalt's icon too. the only thing i would change about it is to maybe friendly-up the music note flag a bit... it's a tad sharp. beyond that, i'd say it's a great improvement.

sometimes i forget that not everybody has the flat icon theme that i use applied to their phones... hence my attempts to stick to a more two-dimensional image. but the gradients really do work well.

Agreed, maybe give the note a slight tilt/leanback and maybe a bit more relaxed (fat?).

I like it! The part of the note above the water is still not quite working for me though...its shape seems a little irregular to me.

It's also scientifically incorrect. Due to diffraction the stem should appear misaligned.

a little more blue, less turquoise, just to play with the colors a little bit. i can't stop tinkering with it.... sorry, i think diffraction is a little more than this icon needs. it's not exactly photorealistic. or r u jus trollin br0? hehe.

I played with different shapes for the flag, but this is the one that i think works best and avoids turning into an eagle talon or a scythe, or something else more angry looking.

Waco's icon with mr_nobody's note!

would someone like to try adding some of the regular sub icon styling to mr_nobody's note? like adding two of the white windows to the base of the note and maybe the green stem from the sub? might look cool
