I don't want to sound ignorant but what is going on with sindre's embedded jetty server that is causing the problem? I'd like to see him fix that and actually set it where either of the proxy options could be used with a default subsonic install. I've stayed with the tomcat this whole time due to the fact no hacks or changes were ever needed until this broken mess has reared its ugly head all over your and my world.

I'm just wondering why Sindre is so quiet about all this as he usually is good about responding to issues.

I might hold off really hacking this up till I'm done moving my server to fedora 13 from the 11 I'm at as they'll pull updates for 11 soon and then I'll have another good year to year and half till I have to deal with it again. I'm a rhce and know how to do everything the redhat way and I am not a debian fan at all having looked at it a couple times and ubuntu is based off debian so not going there although they have done a lot of good for getting linux out more to the masses.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm working hard on a new release of the Android app, and have been a bit lazy on the forum lately.

Well, clearly something very bad happened in version 4 with respect to Tomcat and the DWR library. It's almost certain related to the chat feature, which is implemented using reverse AJAX.

Given the amount of trouble this has caused, I will probably rewrite the whole thing, avoiding reverse AJAX altogether.

Cheers,
Sindre

I'm having the same issue on my unRaid install after upgrading to 4.0.1. I've tried my best to debug this, but this is a little over my head. Subsonic dies after a few minutes after a user starts to listen.

Using htop (tree view) I can see the java thread multiplying as a user listens to songs. Eventually, one thread pegs (one of the cores) at 100% with a state "R". Subsonic then becomes non-responsive.

hi guys,

turning off the chat for all users solves the problem for me. my subsonic is running for about 3 weeks on my tomcat 6 installation without problems.
log in to subsonic with an administrative account and open an other browser tab with http://<subsonic_adress>:<port>/<context_path>/db.view .
run the following sql statement: update user_settings set show_chat=false; and all users get their chat turned off.
