The board was offline last night and it looks like we may have dropped a few posts on this thread, but there's no doubt that there is a huge difference between consumer and professional grade quality. Those old routers may be a bit behind the curve in the speed dept. but I'll bet they are rock solid.
I've been troubleshooting some network issues here for a few weeks that have been driving me crazy. Folders were taking way to long to populate in explorer when trying to browse the network, I had a WHSV1 machine that would never show automatically, and in general there just seemed to be too much lag in the network.
This morning we had a power failure and my battery didn't hold up and all the servers crashed. Guess what? All the above issues have now been fixed! Go figure. I had previously flushed all dns caches, did GPO forces, and on and on to no avail - but a good ol' fashioned crash fixed everything.
