Mr. Odd wrote:This happens to me periodically as well - running fine, then the service crashes (and I get an error message) and I've got my memory set to 1000 in the control panel!
Here's the message in the Event Log:
Faulting application subsonic-service.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module java.dll, version 6.0.230.5, fault address 0x00004e2f.
Is the problem with Java? It seems to have happened with older versions of Java as well.
phazzard wrote:I am having the same issue since updating to the newest version. I can get the service to stay up for 1-2 days before I have to reboot. I have a very large collection on a dedicated server with 6tb (About 500,000 songs). I have loved subsonic because it could handle the collection size with no issues. I have the memory size set at 1,000 and have never had any issues until this last upgrade?
jjwa wrote:I also have this issue. Also since I upgraded Subsonic (to 4.2 beta1), earlier I never had it.
Info:
Windows 7 x64
Not sure what my Java version is/was, but I see that it updated monthly, so it can't be very outdated.
Memory limit was left at the default 100MB (now at 250MB).
No router, no firewall, no virus software actively doing anything.
I don't use Subsonic daily, so I can guess only very roughly, but it seemed to happen every 2-4 days.
elueders wrote:It has been awhile since I posted, but it seems that every time my SS icon turns red at the bottom of my screen, my "Memory used" is right at the limit. I increased the max to 200, and well- the application runs longer (1-2 days), but still eventually hangs. I believe this must be some type of memory leak. Java version is 1.6.0_06. Java is locked at this version because any later version conflicts with some Cisco network tools that I need to use.

I´ve about 35000 files. Is there a limit?
dmartin9 wrote:This issue seems to be ongoing. My server stays online for approx 2-3 days and then drops offline as well. When I pull up the Subsonic Control Panel all fields are blank. When I attempt to restart or stop the Subsonic service nothing happens. The only solution is to reboot the system. I have tried both the UUNP port setting and manually configuring a port in my router. This started occurring approx 2 updates ago. I am currently running 4.2 (build 1946). My collection size is as follows:
5,170 artists
3,242 albums
52,031 songs
446.98 GB (~ 6,943 hours)
I am running Subsonic on the following:
Windows 7
AMD Phenom 9850 Quad Core Processor
8 gig RAM
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated..!!!
elueders wrote:This has been happening to me, too. 4 time today, so far. I went to the event logs, and found:
The Subsonic service terminated unexpectedly.
Here are the details:

elueders wrote:Arggghhh!!! I made both of those changes, and it still keeps quitting on me. I often wonder if I am just one of a few people experiencing this- or is it a more widespread problem? Anyway- advice would be appreciated.
billy bob thorton wrote:Hi all, I have an annoying situation. Since I have installed win 7, I haven't been able to keep a connection to the service for more than 4 or 5 days. After those 4-5 days or so, the tray icon turns red as opposed to the nice green! Still says the service is running however, it is not. I like to leave the server on 24/7 to access the music. I have tried to end the process and restart the process etc. however the only way to fix this is to reboot.
After the reboot the app service starts again and I am off to the races for another few days with a nice green tray icon until it goes down again. I am using the latest and greatest. It was the same situation with the previous version as well.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
I use NO IP as the DNS app so a dynamic IP isn't the issue. I also run another server on the same machine, different port, and it doesn't ever go down.
I am the only one who uses the machine and sometimes I am not on it for days, only to check on my server status!
P.S. when it is up and running, it runs great and I have no issues.
Any help would be appreciated. I searched the forums and didn't get a hit.
Thanks in advance.

Flyby wrote:I have the same problem on an Ubuntu 10.04 server.
Subsonic is up for a few days and then stops.
