Hi, I am rather excited to start using subsonic, but I've run into an issue: it doesn't seem to start when I run the start subsonic shortcut. I'm running Windows Server 2008 and already have a website setup on the computer with port forwarding etc. on my router for port 80. When I try to launch subsonic, it opens the prompt window for a split second and then it goes away. I do have the "subsonic.exe *32" process and the Subsonic service running (verified in the task manager) and I've read issues with Vista users not seeing the icon on the toolbar, so maybe that's all it is. If so, how do I configure subsonic without the icon?

You can manually edit C:\Program Files\Subsonic\subsonic.exe.vmoptions, and then restart Subsonic.

Yeah, I've found that; but there aren't too many options. so i guess my question is... now that it's running, where do I go from here? Do I have to do something in MediaMonkey?

I can confirm the problem with Subsonic running on Vista. It is not just the tray icon which is disappearing, the application won't start even though the service is running. You see the DOS window flickering on the screen for a fraction of a second, then it is killed off and Subsonic is gone without a trace.

Upgrading to the latest version of Java from Sun does not help.

I'am also running Vista.

No icon appears on install !
Nothing happens on subsonic start !

Anybody can help ?

FYI, there's a parallel feature requests thread called "Tray Icon" http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1186

The new beta 3.5.2 does not fix the tray icon problem unfortunately.

I'm in the same boat about editing subsonic.exe.vmoptions since it has so little information in it upon a fresh install (and I'm new to the program). Anyone know of any threads where the full / partial contents of a working .vmoptions file are posted so that I can use that as a template?
