All worked fine then suddenly: No media folders found

Postby christheberge » Thu Aug 15, 2013 2:52 am

I was up and running fine, Preferences says port forwarding ok, and Server address Status = Successfully registered web address. Then every day something happens and I get "no media folders found" and my folder that was found before is all of a sudden "folder not found." Happened at the end of my first day of testing so i deleted and re-added and today the same thing happened again.

If your media folder is on a "network share" (any computer other than the one Subsonic is running on), you run the risk of this. Especially if Subsonic can't reach the other computer for one reason or another (ie. the other PC reboots in the middle of the night....)

Its on the Time Capsule. I don't quite get what computer subsonic is running on - I only "run" subsonic to refresh the folder that i add music to. For the past 2 days i have been using subsonic android app and time capsule as the server. No computer involved. - am I missing something ?

Addendum - I just deleted the TC folder from media folder list and added it back and it works again

Yes, deleting and re-adding the folder will make it work again, but chances are that this issue will reoccur.

Does your Time Capsule have a power management add-in, where it goes to low power mode, or to sleep after it's not used after a certain period of time? I would disable that and see if that works.

Thanks, I will check that. I was just reading thru the SS docs and it seems to imply that SOME computer needs to be running the subsonic software in order for things to run properly. I didn't quite realize that as time capsule drive is often the only device active on the network and all the computers are asleep or off when not in use.
