SS on Debian slowly stopped loading: HTTP ERROR: 503

Postby nick2585 » Sat Jan 14, 2012 3:47 pm

Ok, I know there are similar posts on this issue but I think my problem is slightly different.

I have had Subsonic running in a virtual environment for some time now and it worked great. It is a Proxmox host running Subsonic in a Debian Lenny OpenVZ container. The Proxmox host was using kernel 2.6.18 (which it shares with the container, in this case Subsonic) until a few days ago when I upgraded it to 2.6.32... while subsonic was running (I was trying to get NFS to work in the OpenVZ container). I rebooted then I could not load the Subsonic page. I tried reinstalling Subsonic, upgrading Java and patching the Subsonic server, none of these worked. I read up on these forums and they said to rename your db directory. I did this and it seemed like Subsonic was working again. It worked for awhile but it got slower and slower and then I couldn't load the SS page and then eventually I started getting HTTP ERROR: 503 when I tried going to the page. I am not sure what is happening, some people have mentioned editing the playlist.jsp file, but I am not sure if that applies in my case. I would really appreciate some help, I never realized how much I use Subsonic and this downtime is killing me! Thank you!

Wow, I got the same error today. Mine is running on hardware (no VM) and is Ubuntu Server 10.10. Yesterday, it was working fine, today not. Looking at the same log, besides the "[Full GC..." errors, I have this:

Exception in thread "btpool0-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
646652974 [btpool0-2766] ERROR org.mortbay.log - Error for /dwr/call/plaincall/nowPlayingService.getNowPlayingForCurrentPlayer.dwr
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Exception in thread "Search Index Generator" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
646652976 [btpool0-2769] ERROR org.mortbay.log - Error for /dwr/call/plaincall/nowPlayingService.getNowPlaying.dwr
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

I haven't done anything else yet to try and get things back up and running.

I seemed to have fixed the problem by reverting back to kernel 2.6.18 and renaming the db directory again.

Any way to fix it without having to revert back to that kernel?
