what am I doing wrong?

Try http://127.0.0.1 instead of localhost. Keep checking the forums. You're not the first one to have connectivity issues

I cannot connect either, and it is not the URL.
After following the instructions explicitly, I was immediately unable to connect - everything was default.

Changing ports does not help. Attempting to connect the following ways does not work:

http://localhost:
http://127.0.0.1:
http://<internal ip>:<port>

So, I tried to telnet to the port, and no connect was found. I port scanned every port on the box, and there are NO subsonic ports open.

It appears that the current build is not listing on the specified port correctly. I tried changing the ports as well, with no luck.

I will follow up if I make any progress.

If anyone is having problems with connecting to SS then I suggest a read of viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5506
Also checkout http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/
Which has some good practical advice on setting up your server.

Find the most appropriate instructions for your platform. The first one for Windows is very comprehensive and many of the concepts explained are applicable to all installations.
