Playlist Auto-Update?

Postby kyomi7502 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 6:13 pm

Is it possible to get an option or even to schedule some kind of batch file to automatically update playlists during the daily library scan?

I've got my music sorted by Genre -> Artist -> Album -> Track and it's getting time consuming to have to add all of the music back to a new playlist when adding new songs.

Normally this is how it goes:

- Transfer new music to the server or edit existing structure
- Log in to subsonic
- Click the "Add All" button after clicking on a genre link
- Wait and hope the browser doesn't crash from the large amount of files being add to the browser "temp" playlist
- Add files to a new playlist, see first part of above step
- Click on the new playlist named by Date and Time, wait and hope again while it loads the playlist
- Rename the playlist, wait and hope again
- Clear the "temp" browser playlist and wait and hope
- Click the old playlist and wait for it to load, delete it
- Start over again from Step 3

It would be so much easier if there was a way to do this without being in Subsonic. I've tried the Export Playlist buttons to try and be quicker but instead of putting the web streaming address for it, it puts the local disk location of it.

Thanks

I create "genius" playlists in itunes, then export them to *.m3u8 files, followed by replacing all \ with / and adjusting the path for each entry (the file can be edited in Notepad). I wrote a small script to do the editing for me, and I can create a bunch of playlists, then run the script to "convert" all of the lists at once. Then I import each one into Subsonic.

The problem with that, is that it still has the local disk location of it (like D:\media\music\artist\album\song.mp3).

What I'm looking for is the streaming location (http://<server address>/subsonic/stream?player=3&id=10710&suffix=.mp3) so I can just immediately open it in WinAmp and have no problems with it. Thanks for your reply though :)
