This should be pretty straight-forward for Sindre too now when 4.7 is based on tags rather than file names?

(The left frame is simply extended with a drop-down list populated by genres. When you choose one, it acts like a filter to only display those artists.)

Use mediamonkey sort feature if you have all the genre info filled out.

Sorting tags into folders is not the same thing. You can't always map one to the other (since an album may contain multiple artists/genres/etc.) There really should be the option to browse by tags.

Does this work now? Just updated to 4.8 and still have the same Folder Structure view on the left. Is it that hard to implement a ID3 based view like every Mediaplayer does??

I too have some albums that are not properly sorted. For example my Jay-Z albums. (http://img.ctrlv.in/img/51e0055571d36.jpg).

On what is this based? I don't see why some dates are not on top. I have added the hashtag to the index textbox, and tried unchecking "sort albums by year".
