yeah saw id3 tag support. the only place I can find genre listings is under the random playlist settings. It did identify the genres off all my files. If it can do that they are in the index somewhere already and should be searchable at least. Genre sorting will take some work, but if the info is in the index already let me search it! PLEASE.
This should be pretty straight-forward for Sindre too now when 4.7 is based on tags rather than file names?
(The left frame is simply extended with a drop-down list populated by genres. When you choose one, it acts like a filter to only display those artists.)

\music\<genre>\<artist>\<album>
Sorting tags into folders is not the same thing. You can't always map one to the other (since an album may contain multiple artists/genres/etc.) There really should be the option to browse by tags.
Does this work now? Just updated to 4.8 and still have the same Folder Structure view on the left. Is it that hard to implement a ID3 based view like every Mediaplayer does??
On what is this based? I don't see why some dates are not on top. I have added the hashtag to the index textbox, and tried unchecking "sort albums by year".
