I am sure we are all grateful to Sindre Mehus for this software. It's a wonderful piece of work.

That said, I assume most of us would like an admin toolkit for the backend.

Exporting data from the databases to useful backups/textfiles

A management page to organize (move) songs and folders

More flexible settings: server settings page much like forum software

Ability to limit uploaded file size

Support for .tar .gz .bz .rar in addition to zip files

Ability to scan archives uploaded for content matching the music/video files mask and cover art mask, extract the alllowed content and ignore the rest, deleting the archive when done.

etc...

please feel free to add to this.

It seems when asking the quite generic question whether or not one needs an admin toolkit, most people have different views what that actually includes. After voting "high" though, I think I wouldnt want too much bloat just to have a huge PHP based managing thing on top of SS. A few extra functions for admin and maybe one or two little tools to export/import user data or statistics on the other hand are most welcome for the aspiring SS admin :)

There is a mod (Subsonic Pack 4.4) that inlcudes a more convenient upload popup window. I added a user and admin mode to that, maybe someone wants to check it out. Its no great tool actually, but it improves control for the admin :)

For the most part I think the Admin functions currently available are a good start, but they are lacking.

The big ones for me are:
- Additional controls specifically aimed at Video (bit rate, allow/disallow)
- Greater controls over uploads (rate, formats, hold for admin review)
- user stats/logging on front end
