I must say, I quite miss being able to just dump a new artists folder in my "Music" folder, refresh my subsonic tab and have that artist show up immediately in the left pane. Broke in b2 and still is in b3.

Is that functionality coming back?

The two which were not showing content yesterday I deleted and re-imported ok so I imported a third.
I now have 3 playlists which are saying xxx songs but the playlist is empty.
If you try to download or export you get either an empty zip file or an empty m3u file (not entirely surprising)

Hi,

It sounds like the same issue, which i have found.

Look @ viewtopic.php?t=9983

I am running 4.7.beta3, and have discovered an "issue" that I can't seem to resolve. It seems that the automatic "Playlist import" scanned my PC and discovered several playlists created by Mediamonky. One of the playlists is called "Accessible Tracks" with over 44,000 entries (large library). I have managed to eliminate all of the other duplicated playlists that were created, but I can't eliminate the largest "Accessible Tracks (44256)" because I get a "webpage is no longer responding" message on Internet Explorer. It seems you can't delete a playlist, until it's contents are displayed completely first.
I tried leaving my web page opened while it was "reading" the playlist for 18 hours+ to no avail. (silly, but ya have to try it.)
Is there a way to delete this entry without it having to be "read" first??
Help!!!

MM playlists are stored in the MM db unless exported so you must have exported it at some point as a m3u file
If you open the playlist in a text editor and delete all but say 1 entry then SS will be able to read it ok and then you can delete it.
I would say just delete the file but I am not sure if SS would handle that gracefully.

I tried to delete all but 1 item in the exported playlist that contained over 44,000 entries and re-scan, but the original playlist still exists, and I can't delete it!!! As soon as you select it, the web page goes off to never-never land  .
I've also noticed that the Artist/Album/Song counts that used to be shown under the subsonic logo (upper-left) is now missing!. Now the only thing that shows there is a "refresh" link. Is there anyway to display the counts again?

Go into db.view
Type
Code: Select all
Select * From Playlist

Note the ID # of the playlist you want to delete
Type
Code: Select all
Delete from playlist where ID=#

That should do it but no warranties given or liabilities accepted

I don't like the new playlist behavior

Before playlists were loaded/linked to a "Playlist directory" location, now they're not.

Previously (in 4.6) when I added a new song to a playlist in Winamp/Foobar2000/whatever and saved it, it was automatically in Subsonic's playlist.

Now you have to go through the process of deleting the loaded playlist and import it again to get the changes! :x

PLEASE change it back or make it optional! :|

As for the counts of songs its below all the artists list.
Sindre must have accidentally bumped it down.

Thanks BKKKPewsey, using the db viewer did the trick!
It of course would be nice to be able to delete them from a list in a settings page (maybe using only the admin account), so you don't have to poke at your database. Sometimes you can poke the wrong thing and Whammo!

New music I add to my Music folder doesn't show up in Subsonic, even after a scan.

In 4.6 new music wouldn't show up on the left panel. See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8315&p=42336#p42336

4.7 beta2 sort of fixed it for me, but would crash if I would do a rescan of my files. New music would be picked up during the daily scheduled scan of subsonic, so I was mostly happy.

With 4.7beta3 new music just doesn't show up at all. A rescan makes no difference, although it is not crashing anymore.

Deleting /var/subsonic/db ,restarting and rescanning my music files, made all the new music appear. That is good, but if I add new music to my music folders it still doesn't get picked up.

I am running subsonic on a remote headless ubuntu 10.04 server. Upgraded to the new beta with sudo dpkg -i subsonic-4.7.beta3.deb

Not sure if it matters, but my music is on a raid5 setup with mdadm. (linux software raid) and is owned by the subsonic user. Subsonic is not running as root

Edit: Problem seems to have gone away!. Subsonic is seeing new music as it should after a rescan. I just have one issue with one album in m4a format, that Subsonic does not see. Don't know why, but this is not a big thing. 8)

Subsonic is not refreshing the artwork after it has been downloaded. The artwork is displayed if I clear my browsers history/cache, this behavior occurs on IE9,Firefox, and Chrome.

A small percentage (less than 5%) of my library is non-DRMed AAC files from the iTunes store and after initial import I noticed that none of them have the year recorded. They're all properly tagged in iTunes. I can't remember if this occurred in 4.6. Has anyone else noticed this?

Also, while I'm pretty happy with 4.7, I really miss the old playlist directory functionality. I had a script that exported a bunch of smart playlists from iTunes to the playlist directory on a nightly basis. Maybe I could get by if I could trigger playlist import from the API.

Love the new database refresh speed with my 700 GB collection! Now it takes 3 or 4 minutes instead of nearly 30.

Two issues:
1. What happened to the database statistics (number of artists/songs/etc.) that used to appear atop the left frame? On my install they're gone.
2. When I add new albums but don't refresh the search database, some of the new albums appear in "Recently added" but not all. Once I refresh the database they appear.
