1) I have an idea for possible improvement. I understand that Apple restricts the amount of data you can stream over 3G over a given time which is why you can only cache one song at a time. Would it be possible to include an option to cache up to two songs at a time over WiFi (the current and next songs)? Then at least Jailbroken users could take advantage over 3G as well. This would make transitions between songs more seamless, as well as mitigate a situation where you happen to change songs right in a bad service area.
2) It would also be nice to have a visual representation of the caching status of a song. Maybe a simple updating numerical percentage or a small progress bar for each song as it is being cached.
3) Allow manual downloading (caching) of songs for playing at a later time, possibly while offline. This would probably have to be a WiFi only feature, but again Jailbroken users could take advantage over 3G as well.
4) Lastly, song seeking during playback.
Keep up the great work, your app is making great strides!
I agree it's going in the right direction, but for me 1.5 has been sluggish. I dont know if its due caching of db?
Two questionst to the author:
1) 1.5 is supposed to cache my music library so that I can browse it when I am off-line? I cant see that happening on my phone. I have tried it by first browse a few albums and then turn off internet connectivity. It's possible to browse the same album as I looked at when I had connectivity, but nothing else. Am I doing something wrong?
2) How am I supposed to play my cached songs when I am off-line? The only way seems to be to set some songs as favorites while you are connected and then use that playlist. But that is really an awkward solution. Or again, am I misunderstanding something?
Therefore, a feature request: It should be possible to browse cached songs without connectivity to the subsonic server.
