Can't access network drive

Hello,

I'm using a network drive (NAS) for my files but I can't access it from Subsonic. (Can't find the music folders)

The NAS is a Lacie and you must use a account/password to enter the share.

I've seen the topic about the network drive and I know that the service of Tomcat can't see mounted network drive's (because it's has been bound to a user) so i'm using the UNC path.
But I don't know how to give the service of Tomcat access to the drive.

Is there a workaround to do this?

On what OS are you running Tomcat?

If its windows, simply Map it as a network drive on the Tomcat host machine, then point Subsonic to that location.

I'm running the windows version.

A mapping to the NAS won't work.
I've tryed that already and subsonic still comes with the message "No music folder".

Maybe because tomcat is running as a service and the mapping is linked to the actual logged-in user.

It works when I use a UNC path to a network drive without any security settings.

this should be submitted as a feature request.

otherwise try creating 2 user accts on your NAS, one without a password but with Read only rights and the other for admin use...

Hi!

I have the same problem. But unfortunately I am a non-expert user. But I know how to create a user on my MyBook-Drive. What user should it get? I mean what name and password? I don't know which subsonic uses...
Or is it the same I use inside of subsonic to login to it?

Give the Subsonic service log on rights needd to access the drive.

This guide worked for me- now Subsonic can access the NAS using the full path (\\server\share) but still not using mapped drive letters.

Any ideas?

The reason I care is because I've been using a local drive called "M" for years- all of my ratings, play counts, everything are based on that location. So if I don't use the exact same media folder path, all of that is lost.

Sorry, as yet I've not seen any posts that indicate there's any way to do this. I tried getting it to work a long time ago until I found out how to get the share name working.

Don't bother trying to get mapped drives to work, just change your music_file_info table to reflect the new path...

NB: Take a backup of your subsonic directory before you do this!!

1. Go to http://your.ip.address:YourPort/YourContextPath/db.view
2. Enter this command:

Select * from music_file_info

Note that the path field contains your music folders, all starting with "m:\".

3. Assuming that you want to replace "m:\" with "\\MyNAS\MyShare\", enter the following command:

update music_file_info set PATH=REPLACE(PATH,'m:\','\\MyNAS\MyShare\')

Depending on how big your collection is, this could take a while! Give it 10 minutes or so, just to be sure. But there is NO visible indication that it is done!!

4. Now, repeat step 2 by entering the same command again:

Select * from music_file_info

Note that the path has now changed.

5. Change you music folder settings in Subsonic to access the new share.
