Help w/ OS X and forwarding

Postby mcnotjt » Tue Apr 20, 2010 9:48 am

Hey guys, I've been trying all night to get this program to work properly. Ideally, I want to be able to run the music server through iSub on the iphone.

Here's what I've done so far:

-I am able to access the subsonic web interface, and have absolutely no problems logging in, listening to music locally or creating new accounts.

-I registered for dynDNS, and currently have DNS updater running on my iMac w/ mac OSX10.6.3.

-I attempted to forward port 8080 in my 2wire 2701HG-B router/modem, and I was unable to access my files from my IP addy w/:8080, or with my gotdns url I created. Even after this, I enabled DMZ and it still wouldn't work.

When I try to test all of this on my iphone, I get a message stating "Either the Subsonic URL is incorrect or you are connected to wifi but do not have internet access."

I've surfed around these boards and tried out most tactics regarding port forwarding, and even followed the comprehensive guide. Maybe I'm missing something. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!

I believe the problem is that on the OS X install of Subsonic, the port is 4040 not 8080.

Actually, just to make sure, when you originally accessed your Subsonic install, what port did you use? If you just put in your IP (something like 1.2.3.4) then the port you need to forward is port 80 as that's the standard web port so it doesn't need to be entered in your browser. If you put in something like 1.2.3.4:4040 then you need to forward port 4040.

Hopefully that helps.
