some rendered folder art colors shown incorrectly (negative)

Postby anitract » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:43 pm

Some of the album art that subsonic renders in its re-sized format (for album previews or now playing, etc) shows incorrect colors. The best way to describe what I am seeing is that they appear to be a negative of what they should be. If you click to zoom in on the image though, the colors are correct.

Looking at the properties of one of these images that is rendered incorrectly, I see:

dimensions 500x500
resolution 72x72
color space rgb
size 49.4 KB
type jpeg image

So far as I can tell, not all images that render wrong have these properties.

I am running subsonic 3.7 (build 898) with Apache Tomcat/5.5, java 1.6.0_16, Linux.

Ideas?

I was able to get around this problem by opening the trouble images with gimp and re-saving as jpg. Something about the original encoding is not handled correctly. The odd thing is that they open fine in every image viewing program I have tried.

I have also noticed this with a few pictures i have added to subsonic, my workaround has been find a different image to use. it must be something with the original, incorrect file descriptions? I first thought it was maybe a too large of image but that isnt true. For me it only happens every once in 100 or so times, could be even less then that.

I get this a lot too. Clicking through and viewing them at a larger size shows the art correctly. This happens with 4.01 and 3.9. It's definitely server-side, as I get in in different browsers on different machines.

The bottom row of albums, for example, are supposed to be predominately yellow. The second row, first album is a blue sky. Union is negative as well.
