MediaMonkey database integration?

Postby sno crash » Fri May 21, 2010 9:10 pm

I don't know how massive this would be, but MediaMonkey integration would be pretty interesting.

I found out about Subsonic from the MediaMonkey website. I use MM as my music library since it is manages libraries very well. Subsonic points to my music directory, and as long as MM keeps the music tracks organized with album art, Subsonic works well.

I think if Subsonic linked directly to the MM database (read-only), it would make updates smoother, and any features MM uses could be exposed in Subsonic as well.

I also manage my music library with MM, and have subsonic pointed to the same folder that MM manages.

I dont know if this would be worth it, but if something amazing came from it, then yay!

*bump*

Especially the actual database - playlists would be nice, but the db... *shiver*

There is a fairly easy manual solution as well--

MM has a script available that dumps all playlists to a certain location. I just run that whenever I have playlist changes, and have subsonic point to that dir for playlists. I also point my logitech squeezebox server there.

It's not perfect by any means, but it seems to be a reasonable (though admittedly "one-directional") workaround for me.

This would be key for me. I love subsonic and I'd really like the option to load up my mediamonkey playlists inside of subsonic and easily play them from my phone. <3

I'd really like this too... MediaMonkey is the master for collection. I name files differently depending on whether they are an artist or compilation so don't really want to rely on the file system for picking up the album/track details.

Plus I don;t want to rename my entire collection otherwise that will screw up my Virtual DJ database.

Cheers,

Roy

MediaMonkey database integration would be great!
*I also heard of Subsonc from the MediaMonkey site

Same here - would love integration with the Mediamonkey database. Exporting playlists hasn't always worked for me, especially with massive autoplaylists.

Hi guys

I'm looking for an update on integration with MediaMonkey. Specifically, I want to update play counts and ratings. Of course, access to playlists would also be nice, but from what I've read that is already available in a workaround.
Can we have an update from the developer, please?

Thanks

Steve

Given that MediaMonkey is not even mentioned on the To Do list (http://subsonic.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... n/TODO.TXT) I would say that it is not even to the "on the radar" point.

I don't want to speak for Sindre, but that list is pretty long already...

The two best music management/access tools available today, and integration is not even on the radar? Let's hope your thoughts don't match his, as I'd rip my Dev team some new ones if they weren't keeping up with the trends.

There is no "team." There is one person writing and releasing software that most people can use without even registering (because they don't care about mobile access) for free.

I don't think that this is his retirement plan... I think that this is was an application that he needed himself and he was been nice enough to share it with the rest of the world.

But that is just my $.02. I do agree it is the best available streaming solution out there...
