Transcoding MP3's

Postby wiseadam » Fri May 21, 2010 9:23 pm

Question..the default max bitrate option for the players, does this only pertain to what is listed in the transcoding options?

The reason I ask is if I set a max bitrate for a iSub or z-Subsonic player, to say 128Kb/s, does it transcode a 320Kb/s MP3 to a 128Kb/s MP3?

I am experiencing a lot of stuttering on the iSub app, only on 3G of course, but it seems to almost do it on about the 3rd song in on an album, and it sometimes will stutter to the point of stopping, then magically going to the next song. I don't have an issue with slow upload where the music is, but it seems to only do it on the 3G apps, so I need to know if I need to add a mp3 to mp3 transcode option to make that work.

Thanks!

NM, I found it. Seems just the iSub application on iPhone is faulty. The transcoding is already all setup, and it on-the-fly transcodes MP3 to MP3 to the set bitrate limit for the iSub player.

Another issue with the iSub app is when switching from one song to another it sometimes does not download the album art fully, or at all.

Hopefully this is a work in progress....can't recommend buggy iphone apps.

There is a support thread in the Announcements forum for iSub application, so you can let the developer know about any problems you have in there.
