A couple (probably dumb) questions

Postby Jumpbear » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:30 am

Hah, hi guys. I know this is gonna sound kinda dumb, but I have some really simple questions I need to ask you guys, because I totally am not understanding a couple specific aspects of the program.

First of all though, i would like to say thank you for such an awesome program. I stumbled across it while looking for somethin to stream my comp music library to my droid, and this was just perfect. All the features are great, and it's nice to be able to share my library with friends :)

ok, now to the questions.

First, I honestly do not understand. What is the jukebox? Like, what does it do, and how do i effectively use it? I couldnt find any instruction guide for it on the site, and I wasnt sure what it did. When I set it to jukebox in my player, and tried to play a song, all I got was static.

second, is there any way to admin stream music that will output to all the people logged into my server? What I mean is, would I be able to make a playlist or something and set it up so that everyone else can only listen to that? I guess like radio or something.

third, is there any any way to queue a full album on the browser client? I know you can long press the album on the droid to do it, but I honestly cant figure out how on the browser.

Edit: hah, ok. I just realized I had party mode on, which is why I didnt get an option to add the whole band. So then ill change my third question to, what exactly is party mode? And how do I use it? I was sorta reading that other people can add songs to playlists and stuff, but I wasnt sure how to do that.

Alright, well that's it for now. Thanks for the help!

For your first question, the jukebox mode, as I understand it, uses your subsonic server's sound card. Not the sound card on the client that is listening to the music.

Second, it isn't set up like shoutcast.

Third, your playlists are found in a pretty obscure place. On your player bar that is 3/4 of the way down on the subsonic screen, there is a drop down menu off to the right hand side. Click on that drop down and you will see load, save and many other options. If you have songs queued up for playing, you can select "Save..." and it will take you to a screen to give your playlist a name. Once you have several playlists, when you clear out your current queue, or just log in, you can click on that drop down, select Load Playlist, you will see all the playlists in your list.
Once you have them set up, adding/removing is simple. First, load the playlist, then either add songs to it, or remove them. Then select save. The name of the playlist should already be populated.

Hope this helps
