Apple Lossless Support

Postby joseperez763 » Sun May 30, 2010 4:39 am

This would be a fantastic feature. I've done much searching and couldn't get any of the work arounds for this working on OSX.

Thanks for the awesome work so far.

This feature works in Subsonic 4.1 . You just need to have to aac > mp3 transcoder setup (ffmpeg).

So make sure you have ffmpeg installed in the correct location then make sure the transcoder is setup in subsonic and away you go.

This doesn't work for me either. m4a transcode to mp3 is checked on in Subsonic. The player skips past any Apple Lossless file. Server is a Mac mini 10.6. Thanks for any help.

Just because the transcoder is ticked in Subsonic doesn't mean it will just work because subsonic doesn't do the transcoding itself.

ffmpeg must be installed (see http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#mac) I'm not sure where the MAC OSX install expects to find the ffmpeg & lame binary though.

Look at the log in About (web interface) or subsonic.log in your subsonic directory and look at what happens when you try to do a aac > mp3 transcode.
