4.0.1 ignores folders starting with a dot (.)

Postby FIST » Thu Jun 10, 2010 8:48 am

Hi,

I'm using Subsonic since over a year now (thanks for this awesome piece of software :) ) and since the beginning I had one folder starting with a dot. After installing the new version this folder isn't shown anymore.

Is this a bug or by design?

Thanks

Think it is suppose to be this way.
In NIX operating systems all folders and files starting with a "."
are treated as hidden.
Any way, what ever operating system you are on, it is god naming
policy to not use "." starting a name or spaces in names.
Consider using other characters instead, as for example "_" underscore.
This will make files function on all operating systems.

Thanks for your answer.

Yeah, I'm using the underscore now, it's no big problem. I just wanted to mention that there's a change in a certain behaviour, maybe by design, maybe unintentional.

I have an album from Metallica called: ...And Justice For All, which doesnot show up in the list.
Is it possible to look into this again. For instance in Samba there is a setting called hide dot files = Yes-No for this kind of problems.
