must reset router almost daily

Postby baxtr » Sun Jul 25, 2010 3:49 pm

I don't believe this would be a SS problem, but seeing if anyone else experiences this. I did not have this issue until upgrading SS.

almost daily I get the "cannot find web page" when trying to access my SS remotely, logging in through the system that SS is running on shows it running fine, and I can access it with the localhost address. If I restart my router, it all comes back again and I can then access it from anywhere I want. almost like the port forwarding gets screwed up, but router restart fixes it. Like I said it seems to be happening almost daily now. Belkin router on Windows system

That's odd. I'm not sure why this would correspond with a Subsonic update. As far as I know, the way Subsonic communicates with its clients has not changed recently.

Nevertheless, this sounds like something you should be calling Belkin about, not asking at the Subsonic forums. Since Subsonic is working on localhost and a router reboot fixes the issue, clearly the problem is with your router, not with Subsonic.

I don't miss the days of running residential routers. I use a Linux box running iptables and have for a few years. Needless to say I've never had any issue like this with any port forwards...

When I used my Linksys WRT54G as a router, it was terrible. It would lock up COMPLETELY and suspend the Internet connection until it was manually rebooted. It did this almost daily because of the amount of traffic I forced through it. My solution was to upgrade the router to a real computer. No issues since... I'm not sure how to help you with this issue, except to tell you that it's not really a Subsonic issue.

Cheers,
Kirk
