Help with Static and Album Refreshing

Postby Jessie » Sat Aug 07, 2010 10:38 pm

Hi, so I got Subsonic setup and have been able to successfully stream to my iPhone over 3G using iSub. I encountered a problem however, where any .m4a files I try to play on iSub produce only static. The files play fine in Subsonic and I have made sure all the transcoding options are selected.

To try and get around the problem, I deleted the .m4a files completely from my music folder and replaced those with .mp3 versions of the same songs. I still got the static on iSub, even when Subsonic shows the files as mp3s. I decided to delete the album (an entire folder) entirely from my computer. The problem here is it shows in subsonic that the files are gone, but even after refreshing the artists and album tabs in iSub, the songs I deleted still show up there. Is there a way to make these files disappear from iSub entirely? I've tried refreshing and disconnecting from the server and reconnecting with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's certainly an odd problem. I was ready to blame the transcoders... until about halfway through your post.

It sounds like it might be an iSub issue. If you delete iSub from your iPhone and reinstall it, that should delete any cached\temporary information and should resolve your issue I would think.

Cheers,

I cannot help with the album refreshing, but I was having the same static problem with my m4a files under iSub. They played fine in the browser and even using z-Subsonic, bit iSub was only static.

To fix this, you have to go into Settings > Player in the web interface. From there, choose iSub from the player list dropdown box. Then enable the m4a transcoder for that player using the checkbox and then it should work fine.

Right after I did this, I tried playing the same file that gave me static before. It didn't work at first, but once I played a couple of other files then went back, everything was fine.
