Slow download for Android app

I keep running into a problem where I can only get about 10-20 KB/s download, which causes playback to stop constantly.

I've run speed tests on both the PC running the server and the phone, and the results seem fine. There shouldn't be any issue with the 3G Network, as I am able to listen to Shoutcast, Pandora, and Last.FM with no problems.

Is there something else that I should be doing, because this is getting frustrating.

I followed another post's suggestion and changed the maximum bitrate for streaming to mobile to 160 kbps, and while that makes it play ok, the download is still slow (in the past, I've gotten significantly faster than 10-20 KB/s)

Shoutcast is most likely working because most Shoutcast stations are in the area of 64k to 128k... which is under 20KB/s. This issue is unusual... do you know anyone else with an Android phone who would be able to see if they also have the issue?

If the Internet on the phone is fast (DURING a time period when Subsonic stops working. Make sure you don't run a test an hour later somewhere else and say "Yeah, it's okay.") and the computer's Internet is fast enough (again, during the correct time period) then my networking instincts say there must be something going on with the routing between your phone and your house. But that even sounds like bullshit to me. If someone said that to me, I wouldn't accept that as a reasonable answer.

I'd recommend having another Android user stand next to you, and see if you have problems and they don't. If that's the case it must be an issue with your phone.
If they have issues too, try using SubAir or a computer outside of your house. If that has speed issues, then it's something on your end at home most likely.

try running your android app from a wifi connection and see if the problem still persists. I would try it on a wifi network from outside your home

I too, am having this problem. And yes speed tests from where I am right now is 9.87 Mbps while subsonic app is downloading at 10 KB/s. I tested downloading from the browser using my subsonic.org address on the phone in the same place right after the speedtest and while the download wasn't stunningly fast it was certainly much, much faster than 10 KB/s. A 6 MB file downloaded in maybe 10 - 15 seconds as oppssed to 1 or 2 minutes inside the subsonic app.
