When you rename your server to http://yourname.subsonic.org, how do you set the login for it? I've navigated to it on my browser and tried signing in on the Android app and it doesn't allow me access when I use the same login from http://localhost

You aren't renaming the server, you're simply setting up an alias for it. Changing your server's DNS will not affect the user and password database. Are you certain you're using the correct credentials and Subsonic URL...?
