Subsonic won't work for me. Please help

Postby pjunk7 » Sat Aug 28, 2010 1:40 pm

Hi

I installed the subsonic server on my laptop (windows), but whenever i click on server address in the control panel (http://localhost/), all i get in the browser is a window that says "website not found/cannot open this address". i.e. web interface won't load.

It is my first time trying to use this software.

using port number 80 (default). i have tried different port numbers and none seem to work.

please help

thanks

Purely out of curiosity, what version of Windows?

It's entirely possible that your hosts file is not resolving localhost correctly. Have you tried navigating your browser to http://127.0.0.1/ and see if that works? Have you tried navigating to the computer's LAN IP from another system on your network?

Cheers,
Kirk

I'm having this exact same problem on a WinXP pro machine. I cannot connect to localhost, either by that name or 127.0.0.1. I cannot get the subsonic page to display using another computer on my network (using the IP address, with or without the :8080 added). Subsonic is set to default settings, so it should be port 80.
I have gone to my router and forwarded traffic to port 80 to my computer.
Still cannot get to the subsonic interface. Is there a windows setting I'm missing?

Is the windows firewall blocking traffic from any applications? That is sometimes an issue and you don't always get a warning message

windows firewall is turned off. Could it be doing this while off?

I can't get this to work either. My firewall is off and I've reinstalled it a few times. I am running windows 7

I get this error every time from the local host

HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/

Powered by jetty://

I'm a new user experiencing the same problem. I have opened the port number on my router hoping that would work. It did not.

Subsonic is the only solution I found for listening to unsupported audio formats on my Nexus One. Please assist me to get this setup on my PC (running under Windows Ultimate).
