video settings in 4.1?

Hey guys, I've been unable to use streaming video on my subsonic site thus far, but was wondering if people were having better luck with 4.1

could anyone paste what my adjusted text file should look like and tell me what transcoding to use? I would very much appreciate it! I wanna get to watch Battlestar Galactica from work haha

Thanks! But, a question. Embarrassingly, I've never so much as heard of Ubunto. Mister google says it's an operating system, so I'm guessing setup would be much different on a windows 7 pc?

Ubuntu is Indeed a Operation System, like many other Linux OS..
Take a look at this, http://distrowatch.com and open you eyes for other OS than Windows..

The setup for windows is identical, here is a link for that. Only thing that has changed is the modification you need to make in couple of files. If you read both posts, I think you would be able to figure it all out.

Well, you *could* replace your OS, but I probably wouldn't recommend it. Now, if you setup a virtual machine (VM) or a separate box for it, then I would definitely give Ubuntu a shot as it's pretty friendly.

As for the link with the directions, it appears to cover Subsonic installation (you already have that), but everything that's "sudo gedit..." just means "open file in text editor as an admin." In Windows 7, just use Notepad and work with the file as per their directions. Remember to make backup copies of the files in question BEFORE altering them. Also make sure to have the appropriate CODECs on the system (you probably do if you're watching the movies already on there) and then configure the app with the appropriate extensions and file types.

Windows 7 is good, but what Linux brings to the table (for free) is enormous. Open source rocks.

And I've tried a few very similar tutorials but none ever had any results...
