Version 4.1 Stops Working

Postby nheimler » Sat Sep 11, 2010 1:58 pm

Hello. I posted something in regards to 4.1 beta 1 stops working after a few days and heard no response. Well I've upgraded to the "stable" release of 4.1 and the issue still happens. In fact, I upgraded it last night and it worked until this morning. I have to reboot the machine in order to get this working again. Same problem as the beta 1 had, so something is still buggy about this. The log files report nothing out of the ordinary that usually displays after a reboot and what not. Not sure what other info I can provide. To see the specs of the machine see the link below. And as I noted there 4.0.1 has been "stable" for me as I had no issues until I upgraded to 4.1 beta and now 4.1. I have not tried a fresh install of 4.1, but I was hoping to avoid that as I didn't want to loose all the logins I had setup without resetting up everything.

Thanks for whomever can help!

Am I posting in the right area? Are there not enough people using this to notice any issues? Just trying to find answers and some help in resolving this. Btw is there another area I should be posting if I'm a registered user? Thanks!

Hi I just upgraded my ubuntu subsonic to 4.1 and even though the subsonic web interface opens and I can browse my collection, i can no longer add songs to my playlists, therefore 4.1 is not working for me.

FIXED:

Sorry folks... just had to reinstall Java... first line in the instructions

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre

Then restart Subsonic

Code: Select all
sudo service subsonic restart

Saved playlists, or any playlist at all as in you can't play anything ?

If it's saved playlists, see what user subsonic is running as:

ps auxww | grep subsonic

and make sure that user has read/write access to your playlist directory.

I am afraid something similar is happening to me. I am on a Mac.

I had been running 4.0.1 fine for several months. Last night I updated. At first I noticed that the memory was defaulted back to 100m and I fixed that. This morning I could not connect from my iPhone. I restarted the server. Z-Subsonic can connect to the server and see my tracks but when I hit play nothing happens. Artwork apears.

iSub can't even get to the server - I am getting a timeout error. There is nothing indicating a problem in the logs.

Anyone have any advice. Thanks

Just an update. I reinstalled 4.0.1 on my Mac and everything returned back to normal and I was able to listen my playlists on my way to work this morning.

So my guess is 4.1 is the issue or iSub and Z-Subsonic for the iPhone need to be updated for 4.1.

I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 with 4GB of ram and an iPhone 4 on version 4.0.

Yeah there's something up with 4.1. A colleague of mine is also having a similar issue I am with it locking up after a couple days. Again rebooting fixes the issue for a little while then bamb. 4.0.1 doesn't have this issue. We've both upped the memory for java and it seems to fix the issue for a bit. Something fishy...not sure how to troubleshoot/fix. Nothing in the logs show anything. Nothing with our networks being an issue. Both of us are techs, so we've looking into that being an issue. Plus, 4.0.1 runs stable ever since we installed it when it came out.

Can't connect anything for a reason, but same thing. Randomly quits working. Can't restart from Subsonic control panel. Need to reboot Windows, then fine. Can go days or hours at a time before quitting. Service shows as running in task manager, but unable to stop it there, 'access denied'

Anything in Windows Events log, or SS log?

Open services.msc right click on the Subsonic service, select Properties, uncheck the box that says "Alow service to interact with desktop" then click OK.
