Error: Parsing the XML

Postby whodat » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:07 pm

I'm a new user and the app works great from home. However, when I take it to work I almost always get the following error: "There was an error parsing the XML response. Maybe you forgot to set the right port for your server?" I have to manually kill the app at this point.

What do I need to do to fix this? I performed a search and can't find another similar case.

I'm using the Subsonic iPhone app.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am getting the same error and struggling to get this working on my iphone 4. Very frustrating and I have found no other solutions online yet. Like you, the web browser part is working. Hopefully the developer will respond...

Which Subsonic iPhone app are you using? There are two: iSub and Z-Subsonic.

I too am having this issue. Everyone I stream to is having the issue too so we're not having too much fun right now.

iPhone 4 iOS 4.1
Subsonic 4.1 - registered

iPhone reports following error:

Error
There was an error parsing the XML response. Maybe your forgot to set the right port for your server?

Any ideas?

Update:::uninstalled and reinstalled Subsonic 4.1 - still getting XML error on iPhone

Update::: I found the problem for me anyway. The subsonic.org mask for my IP is not accurate. My internet went out last night and I pulled a different IP when it came back online. I put the IP address in iSub as the server and it connected first time.

I wonder if there is a way to manually update the Subsonic IP information to direct properly over the mask they provide.

Have you tried simply reinstalling the iSub application on your iPhone? A lot of times that will fix the oddest issues.

Still fails

Thanks. I tried it and it still fails. Now it seems that my free 30-day subscription has expired. I'd love to try to get it to work but it's not worth risking $25 unless I'm certain it's going to function properly.

Yep. Tried that as well. Thought about doing a restore but figured that was too much trouble for something that just stopped working and is pointed clearly to Subsonic and the DNS redirection they have set up for the domain masks which point to our individual IP addresses. My take is someone does this manually when the account is first set up and that's that. I hope there is a way to automate this because I'm giving out my free DYNDNS.ORG address now to get people to my server rather than the .subsonic.org address I paid for.
