Uploading files in linux

Postby Jasper » Tue Jun 19, 2007 8:27 pm

Ok, I have Subsonic installed but I'm having issues with uploading files into it.

I'm doing this on a remote server (we're trying to setup a video stream for lectures from our college) so I was just going to use the upload feature. Whenever I do, it just says "opening page Http://blah blah blah/subsonic/index.view..." and there is a status bar that goes to full, and then just stays there.

I haven't tried using scp to upload it yet just to see if I can actually see into the directories but that's my next attempt. I'm uploading from C:\ on my local machine, and sending to /subsonic on the target machine. I've also tried /subsonic/incoming but the folder is not created. I've checked my permissions, however when I give it a directory it should throw back a permission denied (it does on my local machine) it still does the same thing.

Is there a more lengthy upload to directory I should use or is this feature not working?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

scp to the server

On a side note I scp'd the files to the server and can play the mp3's (working on mpg but I made another post on that problem), so it does in fact seem to be the upload feature, anyone know a way around this issue?

Hi Jasper,

Sorry for the late reply. To be honest: uploading is probably not the strongest feature of Subsonic. It's hard to say exactly what happened in your case (it would help if you told us what browser you used and if there were any error messages in the Subsonic log).

However, if you consider uploading a considerable amount of data I would recommend using scp instead of the http-based upload feature in Subsonic.

Best regards,
Sindre
