Player stops playing when you go into another app [Android]

This is in regards to the Droid player. On a Samsung Ally, when you start a song and leave the player, going back to the home screen, it stays playing. But as soon as you go into another app it stops. On a Motorola Droid it seems to be fine. I can use other apps while the song continues to play.

I'm having this problem with my Motorola droid. Initially I thought it was the overenthusiastic process manager in froyo, but further experimentation leads me to believe this is not the case.

It might have to do with the custom rom I'm using (cyanogen 6). Are you running a custom rom?

What confuses me is it's not like the app crashes, there is so popup saying that it's not responding and is therefore going to be killed. I set the oom value at the absolute lowest (giving it the highest priority) and yet it still closes when I go to another app.

Not, no custom ROM. Fully stock phone. The Ally is running 2.1 update 1, but my Moto Droid is running 2.2. On the Ally, it appears it will keep playing, but then stops. The icon in the Notification bar at the top disappears and seems as if it just stops playing. There is no forced closed message. IF you go back in, it'll play fine. It's only when you leave the app, no matter where you go, it plays for a couple seconds and then just stops.
