same problem

Postby foonasty » Sun Oct 03, 2010 12:40 pm

I am using a fresh install of 4.1 on Ubuntu and am unable to fetch artwork. I'm sure the artwork/db storage format is such that anyone could write tools to fetch artwork. Other than looking at the source code, is there a documented format for the covert art db? Perhaps an API hook to insert artwork would be good as well.

Same here since the 4.1 1802 upgrade, "No Images Found"......using google or amazon and plugging in the url works fine, but discogs search button comes back with no image found error.

I am sure it will get taken care of in a fix.....not a big issue as I tag and coverart most my albums anyway, just use google to find it and paste the url in the box until then. :)

Heh ... save for the fact I have over 1000 albums imported into subsonic. Don't think yee-old cut and paste from google is going to scale. I did see that the cover.jpg is stored in the album directory. Going to place a couple of jpgs with that name into a random dir and see if subsonic's ui automagically picks them up. Also will try embedding cover art in the mps3. Will report back.

Yup, that totally works ... just drop a file named cover.jpg into the album directory where your mp3s are stored. I'll script out a little something to scrape discog and post here if there is any interest.

Looks like there's still some problems with the cover art updating.

I think this is the helpful info...

There seems to be an issue with the Discogs API key being used for the image queries. There are restrictions on access so maybe the key has been blocked due to extensive usage. I've registered for my own Discogs API key and updated the hard coded key value (DISCOGS_API_KEY) in the DiscogsSearchService class and it seems to work fine now.

So I can't get you all the way there, because I am not all the way there... Hopefully though some one will see us splashing around and save us! At best this is a potential overview of the process and not a set of instructions...

First you will need this link:
http://subsonic.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... iew=markup

That will take you to the java source code where the API key is stored (it is on line 53). You will need to modify that file. Recompile, and replace the existing DiscogsSearchService.class

Problem is that I don't know how to compile it w/o receiving errors... Mostly because I have never done it successfully.

Hmmm. I guess i'm going to have to decide how much it is worth to me to download cover art. Thanks for looking out.

Man I was bummed about not having the album art work... Dug around figured it out just like you said, and BAM working like a champ!

Thanks!

How?

Postby erik » Thu Oct 14, 2010 8:22 pm

Ok, I tried to follow instructions to get this to work, as I would love to get an automated process for adding album art, but I failed. Could you please describe in detail how to do this? Or perhaps make a tutorial (and link it here)?

Thanks in advance! =)

Quick and dirty solution:

binary edit DiscogsSearchService.class (vi will do) and search for the DISCOGS_API_KEY: 53ee0045b6 and replace with your own key. Works only for 10 digit keys of course ...

Restart subsonic

I tried that and got this
