Subsonic Not Working!!

Postby anmills » Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:18 pm

Can I get a clear and concise answer as to why Subsonic is not working for me? And could someone explain the steps to troubleshoot. I'm not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, nor am I willing to put in huge amounts of time trying to get this to work for me...I'd just like it to work!! I am unable to play any FLAC files in any of the Subsonic programs, Android, Sub Air, or the Subsonic web browser. The only noticeable error I get is from the Android player it says "error playing "song name". Prepare failed.: status=0x1(IOException) there are no errors that I can see in SubAir or the browser Subsonic, the music just doesn't play.

Forgot to mention that FLAC files play in other music players.

Can you play MP3 files? or is it just FLAC that does not play?

Alan.
If I am more stupid than you, does that make me better at something than you?

Download the transcoding pack here:

http://subsonic.org/pages/transcoding.jsp

And then make sure that under Settings>Players under the players that you use, SubAir, Android, web etc, make sure that the checkbox by flac>mp3 is checked.

I'm on a MAC, as far as I can tell, FLAC encoder is installed in the proper directory. All checkmarks are marked, and settings are set properly.

Could you try to play a flac file from the web browser and then post your log file from the about tab?

What I read from the log is that ffmpeg has problems to convert your flac-file. Do you have this problem with all of your flac-files?

It could be useful to have one of this flac-files to test it manually with ffmpeg. Can you provide one? Perhaps upload it to rapidshare or somewhere else.

I am able to convert flac to MP3 in Tanbee AVCHD converter which uses ffmpeg as an encoder without problems. It's all of my FLAC files that cause problems.

Perhaps Tanbee is using another version of ffmpeg or was compiled with other flags/other versions of libraries (espacially libflaac).
You should try to convert a flac file manually with the ffmpeg provided with subsonic.
Another solution could be to replace the ffmpeg (in subsonic) with the ffmpeg of Tanbee.
