How to upgrade JW Player to ver. 5.3 on Windows

Postby GJ51 » Thu Oct 28, 2010 5:21 pm

I know that the player.swf file in the 5.3 upgrade package can be renamed and used to replace the jw-player-5.0.swf. This does cure the seek bar problem, but disables the ability to play video in the player.

I'd like to figure out how to properly integrate the rest of the files in the package to achive full upgrade integration into Subsonic.

If anyone has any ideas on how to integrate jwplayer.js, swfobject.js, and yt.swf, it's quite possible that this would improve video playback.

Finally making some progress. DO NOT swap the swfobject.js file with the one from the JW Player 5.3 download. It is actually an older file than the one in the SS 4.1 installation and will cause the Get Flash Player error.

Retain the original swfobject.js file - DO NOT SWAP!

Edit: Burned out for tonight! After many hours of trying all combinations asnd permutations, it doesn't appear that 5.3 will play video on Win 7 yet. There are probably code changes that need to be made first. When I revert just the jw player back to 5.0, everything works again for playing video. The 5.3 player will play music with the seek bar working, but I haven't found the right mojo to get video up.
