Problem with non-latin characters

Hi,

I seem to be having a problem streaming files with non-Latin (Japanese, in my case) characters in the filename. The stream just never starts.

I think the problem is with transcoding, as MP3 files seem to work, but FLAC do not.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is it a known issue?

If you take a look at subsonic.log it will show how a transcode is progressing. You'll probably see an error message describing why the transcode failed.

The most likely cause is the %s substitution is not being done correctly by subsonic. But a copy of the part of the log that shows the problem would be useful.

What operating system are you using and filesystem (e.g. FAT,NTFS,ext2,ext3,HFS)?

Obviously, the file isn't really called 02 ????????.flac.

Your browser might not render this correctly, but the filename is '02 未完成のメロディ.flac'. It's in Japanese.

aha! This thread just helped me figure out why I can stream some .flac files but not others. The ones with non-English characters in their names never start. Is there any known fix for this?

No...never did get to the bottom of it.

I'm kind of stumped, but there doesn't seem to be any form of support channel other than this forum, so I have given up for now.

I noticed it's not just .flac, but .mp3 files fail as well if they have funny characters in their name.
