I have many rather large playlists that I converted from Windows Media Player but they are quite useless because there is no shuffle/random play with playlists. I always listen to the same tunes when streaming a playlist. Shuffle play for playlists would be a most welcomed improvement.

As one user has also written, an equalizer would also be appreciated but not priority.

Thanks again for your work. Much appreciated.

Actually only repeat is the missing point :) You can found shuffle, if you use the menu button on the playlist screen...

Thank you for your answer. How do you do that ? I can't find any Shuffle option. After selecting a playlist, the only options I have are: Select all - Play - Queue. The Menu key on the phone does not bring any options, only the keyboard.

Sorry if I was unclear, I mean the playing screen (it actually shows the currently selected songs under the cover art :) that's why I called it playlist screen)
So you have to select the songs hit play / queue, and then select shuffle from the menu on the play screen

Unfortunately this procedure does not seem to work with a saved playlist. I think it works only with the complete database. Please correct me if I am wrong.

First of all, I'd like to say that I love this app, both the desktop and android app... Now my little request:

* Ability to download the tag of music, I like this app because of the streaming option, but I like to use another music app. The problem is that the subsonic app doesn't download the files with the tags, so I can't have my music organized in other music apps

PD. excuse my bad English :D

headset option - default music player

Postby bawnzai » Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:05 am

There are a few headset options that should mimic poweramp.

1. Associate subsonic as the default media player for headset. This should be the same for bluetooth headset controls
2. Option for wired/bluetooth headset. Connection to auto start playing[/i]

Lock Portrait Mode and Organized Search Results

Postby mikefero » Tue Nov 09, 2010 3:06 pm

Two feature requests I would like to see in any upcoming Android app release would be the following:
    1. Ability to lock portrait mode to avoid Subsonic going into landscape orientations
    2. Have a more organized search result that can be configurable based on MP3 tags or directory structure. An example would be when searching for an artist the results would start with the artist result being at the top and any other search results below that. When touching the artist the albums (or directory structure) would be displayed and then touching the album the song list is shown ... then normal operations continue where you select -> Play/Queue songs

Just a thought ... a day doesn't go by that I don't use my Subsonic Android app.

As songs are cached I think it would be better if percentages were shown instead of the KB downloaded

That would be cleaner and provides more useful information to the average user

Good Idea! I would like to be able to choose lock in portrait, lock in landscape, or don't lock in any position.

Sindre

Any chance you could implement the configurable subsonic root folder option ASAP? It's fast turning into a bug and getting incredibly annoying that I can't use my external SD card to store the Subsonic music cache (Samsung Galaxy S).

If this is not possible to implement, or you have no plans to do it, could you let me know?

Hi,

I understand your frustration, but I'm not too keen to expose this setting to the end user. Most people probably wouldn't understand what it is, and setting it incorrectly would mess things up badly.

If later versions of Android come up with better support for multiple external storage, I'll reconsider it.

Can't remember life before it

Postby kramttocs » Thu Nov 25, 2010 5:19 am

Sindre - first off thanks! I couldn't make it through a day of work without Subsonic and am constantly putting in plugs for it to my coworkers.

I tried to browse all the pages in the thread just so I don't repeat anything already covered so I apologize in advance as I am sure I missed a few posts.

1. I second reds suggestion of hiding the startup notification on windows

Now to the Android app

Just tonight I deleted all my other stored music and media players and solely use the subsonic app now.

2. My phone is a Galaxy S variant (Captivate) so I agree with red that being able to choose the location of stored music would be great and not having it limited to the built-in storage card. (but understand your reservation)

3. I love the online entire library shuffle feature - is there a way to do this for all locally cached files when in offline mode? For instance if I switch the server to offline I would like the shuffle option to still be there so I can shuffle all the subsonic music stored locally on my phone.

4. Can playlists be stored locally (to be used in offline mode) and synced with the server when back online?

Thanks again!

drive safely option! :)

Postby cupere » Thu Nov 25, 2010 5:21 am

As a runner, cyclist, and driver, a big button view option for use at these tmes would be lovely! Nice interface...but also, folks over 45 might stuggle with default button size too...just a thought!

Yes, that should be fairly straight-forward. I'll give it a go.

Thanks,

Most people don't understand how to open ports on their router either, but it's fundamental to the Subsonic server, so I don't see it as a reason to restrict the application.

Changing a directory location is pretty much accepted as normal in software installation and configuration. I'm sure there are ways this could be achieved for the huge number of Galaxy S - and variants - owners out there. An internal config file only accessible via a file explorer or even a file chooser with a warning dialog.

Anyway, thanks for letting me know your position on this. Maybe in 2 years, when my contract runs out, I'll buy a phone with no internal storage so I can use my SD card again.

Great! If only all developers where this easy to work with :)

red - no kidding, the first thing I did after I got my phone was buy a 16gb class 6 sdhc card but the way the Samsung handles it isn't worth it.
