Installing RPMs

Postby stevewch » Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:00 pm

I am currently running a Vortexbox and was told about your product to stream music over the internet. I am running the commands that are listed in the install guide for the Fedora and Red Hat Linux. I am running "sudo yum install --nogpgcheck subsonic-4.1.rpm" and it is showing the error "no package subsonic-4.1.rpm available nothing to do." Is there anything that I should do prior to this to make it work?

off the top of my head, it's pretty rare to actually reference the ".rpm" when using the yum or rpm commands. I've never installed SS via RPM, but have you tried simply doing "yum install subsonic-4.1" ?

also... doublecheck that your yum repositories actually contain subsonic. you could always download the RPM directly from the subsonic homepage, and then do a simple "rpm -ivh subsonic-4.1"....

SubSonic can be installed on VortexBox from the update manager. Just click on the update manager in the web GUI and select Subsonic.
