More m4a troubles

Postby nightshrill » Sun Oct 03, 2010 12:27 pm

Hello folks, I know a lot of folks have posted regarding m4a troubles with version 4.x however all the solutions seemed to come down to either error messages I was not receiving or transcoding issues. First off I should say I am running subsonic 4.1 on windows 7 x64 server-side and the client is my android 2.1 powered samsung vibrant running the latest client version. I have tried the solutions proposed in other threads with no luck at all, I have tried CBR/VBR encoding, as well as with both transcoding on and off.. I know it is somehow an m4a issue because I have tried converting a few of my files that refused to play as m4a to mp3 and they played fine, although I do not know why some m4a files will play while others will not. I am really at a loss as to what is going on with this and have absolutely no desire to convert the entirety of my music library from m4a to mp3 (and no they are not DRM'ed songs either).

This is the error message I receive whenever I try to play most m4a files:
error playing "song_name".
Prepare failed.:
status=0xFFFFFFFC
(IOException)

not sure if that might mean anything to any developers or if it is just one of android's difficultly referenced error messages but any input would be very helpful.

Hello - I'm just starting with subsonic and loving it but have a similar problem to you.

The only thing I can add is that .m4a files with bitrates up to and including 256kb will play straight out of the box.

Above 256kb I cannnot play anything.

I'd love to see a way to fix this.
