Subsonic on Linux, Music Files on Windows 7

Postby Argon » Thu Nov 25, 2010 1:55 pm

Hello,

I can't get it to work!
How can I point Subsonic (installed on Ubuntu 10.04) to search my music files onto a Windows 7 Share.

On the command line I can go to cd /home/computer_name/.gvfs/my_windows_shared_directory If i do this, then i can see al my maps with music.

If I paste above link into Sussonic, it doesn't find any mp3 files. How can I create a working link so that Subsonic know that my music is on a network share?

Might be the share is not allowing "everyone" to read.
Subsonic understands a unc path so use the proper UNC path in subsonic like \\mypc\Tunes

Hello,

Everyone can read/write in the folder. I just checked it on the Windows 7 machine...

Did add everyone under both the security tab and under the advanced sharing>permissions tab?

hello,

Yes, they are both added!

My computername is "Nils-PC" and the music folders sharename is "Muziek"

I Tried in subsonic:
\\nils-pc\Muziek

//nils-pc/Muziek

\\192.168.1.6\Muziek

//192.168.1.6/Muziek

I don't know what to do now :-)

In the terminal, I can see my music folders if I go to "cd /home/xbmc/.gvfs/muziek\ on\ nils-pc

If I do a ls all my music maps show up. I think the share is available if I can do that? :-)

It works !

I mounted the Windows Share to Linux with this command:
sudo mount -t cifs -o username=my_username,password=my_password //192.168.1.6/Muziek /mnt/win

In subsonic my input for my music folder is now: /mnt/win

you can permanently map this sort of drive in linux if you don't want to have to do this every time. Have a look at this thread and you ought to be able to work it out.
