Change the Now Playing to permanent display?

Hey all. I'd like to change the Now Playing function a bit to permanently display the last thing each user listened to. I know most of the script for this resides in right.jsp, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it and had any advice on how to hardwire the timer so entries never time out.

As a future feature, I think it would be awesome to allow users to see a history of what all other users have listened to, but I'm sure that's well beyond a small tweak to a script.
