Android App: Only seeing "first" music folder in M

Postby darkuni » Mon Nov 29, 2010 10:46 pm

I've poked through the forums and online documentation ... so I apologize in advance if I missed something there....

In SubSonic, I have two music folders set up: Folder A and Folder B (let's say).

Folder A is the "bulk" of my music - Folder B is a "temporary" spot I'll throw random crap in that I want remote access to.

In the web application, it's no problem - everything appears as it should ... I have ALL FOLDERS selected and I have access to stuff in Folder A and Folder B. SEARCHING produces results from BOTH folders.

On the Android App, however, Folder A is the only one that appears in the second "Music Library" tab. Folder B doesn't seem to span with the search (in fact, if I search for something in there, I currently get some sort of a server error).

However ...

If I make a PLAYLIST of what's in Folder B - I can access it through the playlists and get to it.

Is this a "known" issue that only the TOP level folder is available on the Android?

Be happy to augment with any further information.

Thank you!

I may have answered my own question - but should at least point out how someone else may have similar issues.

Folder B has loose files in it - not a rigid folder structure like Folder A. In fact, all the files in Folder B sit on the ROOT of the folder.

While they show up in the WEB admin, they do NOT show up in the Media Library on the phone.

Easy enough - I can throw those files into a folder within FOLDER B. Problem solved.

However, I would feel that the Android app should mirror the web interface by allowing those "loose" files to appear at the BOTTOM of the music library tab of the app - OR create a virtual folder called "ROOT" or something similar that would toss those files in there so they can be accessed.

In any event, I'll report the "search" bug separately.

I guess in resolution here:

1) Is this INTENTIONAL? Should "root" files be lost in the Music Library tab?
2) If so, should SEARCH still look for those files and at least offer them up as a search result? It works in the web interface.

Thanks again!

This problem also seems to exist in SubAir.
