Android Client Plays Fine, but Won't Download

Postby CmdrKeene » Sat Dec 11, 2010 5:54 pm

I'm running Subsonic server 4.2 on my Windows 7 machine. So far, it works great.

My android client can access and play my music both from my external IP (using dyndns to route to my home IP). While I'm in my house, I set my android client to connect directly to my computer's internal IP (192.168.1.108 in my case, static of course)... and it also plays just fine.

However, I can't get my android client to download tracks with the "save to phone" button. It seems to be hit and miss, but I'll say that I've only got about a handful of tracks to actually download (when they do, it's super-fast, several MB a second).

I thought it may be a transcoding issue, but the tracks that fail are MP3 and aren't transcoding anyway (they're already low-bitrate, plus I have my bitrate settings on "no limit").

What can I try?

PS. What do the different colored asterisks mean in the android client? I assume green means downloaded, but orange?

What version of the Android app are you using? I upgraded to 2.0 and I don't see the download option available anymore. Any track buffered can still be pulled off the SD card. Then you can select the offline server option and select track to save on phone, which I assume tags them for not being deleted when the cache is full.

In 2.0 Files show a green down arrow when downloading that turns to the gold * after it's complete.

I'm on 2.0, and I do have the 'save to phone' and 'delete from phone' options available at the bottom of any particular track list, it just doesn't seem to initiate any type of transfer when I use it (most of the time). But the tracks will play just fine.

I found it, i wasn't scrolling to the bottom of the list where those options show up. I just tested on my EVO and it works fine. So here's what I can tell so far.

When a track is downloading, you see a green down arrow. When it's completed downloading to the cache you see the gold * When you save it to the phone you see the green*

You might try to download a track from a different server, perhaps the demo server, to see if it works from there.
