subAir stalling during playback

Postby jboothco » Wed Dec 15, 2010 3:47 pm

I use both subAir and the Android client. I am having no issues with my Droid. subAir works for a while, but frequently stalls. It just stops playing in the middle of a song and never restarts. Sometimes I can just hit pause and play to fix it, but other times I have to close subAir and restart it. I've also noticed that I cannot actually pause a song and have it restart reliably (if at all).
I know that the Android client is heavy into caching the music in a local directory, but it appears subAir may not. Might it be a good idea to have some (or more) buffering like the Android client?
I've seen no evidence that the server is having any issues. I have plenty of upload bandwidth so I don't think that should be much of an issue.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

I use Chrome as my SS interface. Looks great and I program links to the sites I visit that contain the username and password so that I don't have to log in.

Works great, looks good. I don't see any reason to use Subair. I have it, but I don't use it. Can't recall seeing any problems like you describe, but I haven't tested it with 4.2 yet.

EDIT: Just tested. I'm not seeing any of the problems you describe. You might try uninstall/reinstall of Subair. I also believe there was a recent update for Adobe Air.

The advantage is not having to have the full browser up and running just for music streaming. The problem with subAir is something you just have to wait for. It will play for a good while and then just...stop. It did it this morning and I hit the stop and then play buttons and it started the song again. Odd...

Are you playing over wired network or wireless? Anything in the event logs?

I'll let mine play for a bit longer, but so far I don't see the same issue.

EDIT: Been playing for over an hour with no glitches.

I'm having the same problem - Subair works great for a while, and then stalls - almost as if it had lost connection to the server. And, I cannot reliably restart playback. As said previously, sometimes I can get play to resume by pausing and playing, but not always. If I clear the playlist and reload, it works fine...until it stalls again.

Running on Windows 7, latest version of Subair and AIR. I am testing jSub right now to see if it has better reliability...
