New Release - 0.9

Postby mattgoldspink » Wed Dec 15, 2010 1:21 am

Hi guys,

I've made a quick new release which includes a bit more robustness and clarity when first logging in to help with some of the headaches people have had. This version also includes the ipad support I've been working on too. Ipad support is by no means complete but it's in a state where you can navigate your music and play it (mp3's only due to ipad limitations, I've spoken with Sindre about getting other file type support).

Just download and overwrite your existing install with the new one from here:

Please let me know if you have any problems, I expect to get a lot more work done on it over the christmas period, so hopefully a lot of other niggly features can be sorted.

Matt

Apologies, I stupidly didn't test some of stuff last night fully so I've just done a small patch release to fix up a few minor bugs in the desktop version.

WOW! This is very impressive.

Love the layout (be carefully of the mighty fruit).
I'm not sure if I missed something, but do I have to enable something to get HTML 5 to work? I only ask that because if I block flash I get no audio.

Is there any chance to have the a-z tree defaulted to collapsed under a folder? The library I work with has over 4700 artist which makes for a very long scroll.

Also I'm not getting a return (or anything) if I try and search. I didn't know if this was functioning yet.

Keep up the awesome work.

BTW I'm running in Chrome (current version 8.0.552.224), Windows 7 64

iPhone version will come, but not before I finish the iPad version and fix up the bugs in the desktop one. If I can get something simple but functional for iPhone and android done over Xmas I'll let you know.

That would be awesome :) my design skill are pretty much non-existent so if you send me mock ups of what you thin would look good I can translate them to code.

Matt, have you seen this for the small devices? http://jquerymobile.com/ the documentation is all done using it. Very slick, not sure it will help.

I have thanks, it's very good for simple sites. I'm actually using Sencha Touch - http://www.sencha.com/products/touch/demos.php

Having used it (and Ext.js) on other large projects in the past I've found the components to be much more feature rich and with Ext 4 coming out soon the code will be easier to share between the 2 libraries.

The key difference is the data store and models in sencha, which jquerymobile does not have an equivalent of. With the sencha stores, it's easy to back all the different components with one store and have an MVC framework sat on top.

Just got it installed and it is pretty awesome so far. Thanks Matt and keep up the good work.

It is working great on Chrome so far but I get some crazy behavior when I tried to use it with Opera 10.63. I just saw that Opera 11 is out now so I will try it on there after I install the update.

cheers

Edit-
Actually I don't get any sound in Chrome. The seekbar moves like it is playing but I only get silence.

Opera 11 doesn't work correctly with subtunes either. :(

Update:

On firefox everything works like it is supposed to so I will use firefox for the time being.

Do you have flash block enabled in Chrome? I'll try it out on Opera over the weekend and see if I can get it working.

Hi all,

I've just uploaded a new release which I've been working on for the last week or so. It includes:

  • Faster player
  • Fixed search (needs better result formatting though)
  • Optimised code (should be a bit faster to launch now)
  • Settings menu in bottom right (toggle html5 support and other features like auto expand indexes) - note some settings require the page to be refreshed to take effect
  • Coverflow has been fixed to show whats in the grid and also click jumps to that row in the grid
  • New release notification (will appear in the bottom bar when I upload it)
  • Progress bar in display now shows correct time into track
  • Width of tree on left can be resized
  • Better feedback on setup (for example will allow you to disable flashblock if enabled, shows what urls it's trying to discover subsonic on)
  • A lot of bugs fixed (volume not stored, play state in grids displayed correctly, few other minor behind the scenes issues)

I've tested on latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera and it should be working fully on all. IE is still not supported due to it missing some key features. To Opera users, I've found some features a bit sluggish, I'll see if I can pinpoint whats slowing it down and optimise it in a future release.

Let me know if you have any issues, suggestions, comments and I'll try reply as soon as I can,

Happy holidays to those still on them,
Matt
