Search only finding some files

Postby linthorn » Mon Dec 20, 2010 9:19 pm

Often when I execute a search (one word searches) I get some hits but certainly not all of them. I'll get about 3 hits when I know I have 10 files with that word in them. How does search work? Is it tag? filename?

Has the database been indexed? Settings/Search/Update search index now

Will force the index update to run.

Yes, I have it set to index daily, but I ran an "index now" yesterday. No change.

As an example, I have maybe 2 dozen albums with the name "Christmas" in the title. The number of songs is much higher than that. I just searched for "Christmas" and it found 2 albums and the only songs listed were from those two albums.

Also, the search returns several blank lines interspersed with the populated lines.

you may need to check how the songs are "tagged" as I believe subsonic searches the tags not the titles.

I recently went through a long process of cleaning all my tags. The songs are fully tagged. So, I have folders with the name "Christmas", I have filenames of "Christmas" and Album and Title (and Genre) are Christmas. Still only a few hits on a search.

Can't think of anything else to do.

It works fine over at this site: http://24.23.183.19/index.view

You might consider a reinstall. There are also posts by Stozher that explain how to delete and rebuild the index that might help. Just find one of his posts, click on the ling to his profile, then view all posts to find the appropriate information.

Killing the index seemd to help considerably. Thanks. Easy enough.
