Android App - Slow library load times

Postby kiksy » Thu Dec 30, 2010 8:25 pm

Hi!

Having this issue with streaming to the Android app. Ive searched and seen other people with a similar issue ,but couldn't find a solution .

At the moment Im just testing the App/Server , and put about 30 songs onto the server, it streams fine and the app ran quick . As another test I then put about 30gb of music onto the server.

My directory structure is Music/iTunes/Artists..... etc

Once I click onto the iTunes folder in the Android app, on Wifi it takes about 30secs to a min to load the folders, and on 3G it usually just says "Network Error, retrying"... endlessly , sometimes it may load though if on a fast HSDPA signal, but this can take a long time.

Initially music was stored on NTFS drive, but I formatted it to EXT4 to see if that would help.

I also then dumped all the contents of the folders into Music (so it was just a folder with 5000 odd songs in it) , but that totally broke the app , even on wifi and I get the error "Error - Didnt understand the reply. Please check the server address"

So basically , my question is - whats the best way to structure my music to make the app work?

Ive read other people say dont have more than 20gb in a folder or sub directory , but I didn't have that initially, most artists folders only have maybe 100mb-300mb in them.

Ubuntu 10.10 NBR
Latest Subsonic and Android App.

I know that my server settings are fine as everything works perfectly with only a few songs on the server.

Thanks,

:D
