Apache Address w/phone app

I have SS set up on my desktop and I have the app running on my DINC. The SubSonic.org server works fine but I am trying to use the phone app with apache. I can access my music through the web using the dyndns name I have but the address doesn't work through the phone app. I have the apache using port 80 (I get an error on 8080) and the SS server on 4040. I think I have port forwarding set up properly and I have the pc that has apache on it using a static ip. the address that I have tried in the phone settings is:

http://xxxxxx,dyndns.org

I have also tried using the ip address with the port number.

the error message is "Connection failure. Didn't understand the reply. Please check the server address"

Any help would be appreciated. I have no real knowledge of networks, etc. other than what I have found on Google so far.
