Search by Genre???

Any reason I can't search by Genre, like I can album, artist or song title? Perhaps I'm just being thick, but I see no way to search for all "Christmas" music, or all "Jazz", etc. I know I can create playlists manually, but what fun is that?

Yes, there is no search by genre functionality.
I am not quite sure what you mean with "create playlists manually", so maybe you already know following workaround:
Under "More" you can create a random playlist eg. 20 songs with genre Jazz.
This is the only known method to me to "search" for genres.

Yep, got the Random Playlist function under "More"...that's nice, but not quite the full solution. That's random. Imagine if you will a very large (500GB plus) collection of mp3's, and trying to search for a Genre of "Baroque Classical" to find all the works that fit the bill. Then playing or creating a specific chosen playlist from the resulting files. That's just 1 use case example for "Searching by Genre". That's what I'd like to see.
